Preparing for Penang

Before I write this post proper, I shall cordially welcome mystic for joining me to be the contributor of this blog. I think she must have been trying to be humourous in her previous post *wink*.

I have more or less packed most of the things I needed for the Penang trip. I am thinking of bringing a book along to read. It is important to nourish one's mind even when one's on a travelling trip. Think about all the time spent waiting for the hotel to get the room ready, the waiting for breakfast to be ready, I figured having a good book to read would really be helpful. Yet, I have not found a book that is not too complex for the mind, yet still very insightful to read during my trip to Penang.

So I shall not count on reading to fill up the many seconds of waiting time that I might have in Penang. Aside from having my lovely travel companion with me for the trip, I shall have my sketch book, drawing pens, and digital camera as company. Sketching and taking photos shall help me capture some of the scenes of Penang.

Meantime, I am looking forward to the trip. My travel companion and I are scheduled to depart for Penang in about two days time.

Esplanade. Theatres by the Bay

This is one of my favourite places that is located near the Singapore River. Esplanade - Theatres by the Bay is one of Singapore's latest performing arts centre. This is a place to catch concerts and performances.

Here's posting some snap shots of the Esplanade for your viewing pleasure.

Penang Beach

This afternoon I was having lunch with a colleague and I briefly spoke about my trip to Penang. She told me that the Penang Beach is very nice. I have no clue as to which beach she is referring to. She also told me that it would be nice to consider to travel to Langkawi, a place nearby Penang. Well, for your information, I have a feeling that this colleague of mine is a person who loves the outdoor, the sun and the adventure. I think I won't mind these, but I am definitely not a die hard or ardent supporter of these.

Anyway, I went up to the internet to search, and I have found a simple map of Penang. The only beach that is being indicated on the map are the Northern Beaches. I wonder if my colleague was referring to them?

Well, maybe I could visit the Penang beach if my friend cum travel companion would agree to the idea? By the way, I am looking forward to have her as a contributor of this blog. I think she will add some spice to this blog. I reckon all of you must have been pretty bored trying to read the same old writing style from me times and over again. It is as if I have only interest for the river, the museums and what I deem romantic. Anyway, I better not give my friend too much pressure unintentionally. It was intended for her to post at her pace.

Now I shall have to go. I reasoned that I should start packing for the trip. Stay tuned.

Penang Food Galore

When I told some of my friends that I am going to Penang, they often tell me that Penang is famous for its local cuisine. I suppose food galore in this part of the world?

I wonder what would be nice to sample in Penang. I think I must have been spoilt for choice. One friend tells me the Penang laksa is yummy! One tells me that I must try the tau sar pieh. The list can go on and on!

If you wish to find out more, I urge you to please wait patiently for my reports when I return from the trip. Till then, warm wishes.

River of Life: The Singapore River

I have a personal liking for the Singapore River. It is a river with a rich history, and a potential future.

It is often peaceful and comforting to stroll along the Singapore River, even if I were alone. Most of the times, I am alone when I go on my mini-adventure along the Singapore River.

I recall that during these times alone, I often got to reacquaint with myself, I learnt to be more comfortable with the person I am. It is as if I have been having an internal dialogue. Somehow, I enjoy having this sense of connectedness with myself. The Singapore River seems to often have the power to set the ambience for such times of reflection and "reconnection".

It is nice, although a little luxury, to take a cruise on a bumboat along the Singapore River. It is as if a spirit of romanticism is in the air.

To share my special liking for the Singapore River, I shall try to post some photos and write a few more posts about the Singapore River. As I write this post, I could imagine hearing the sounds of the water from the Singapore River, visualise the many beautiful scenes. Such is a pleasure.

Singapore Art Museum

This is one of my favourite places to go to. I like the ambience of the art museum, and many of the times, the art works in it. I love the courtyard, and I remember those times where I have had nice breakfast at the Dome cafe situated just outside the museum (Often with the pleasant company of a friend).

It is often very stimulating for the mind to look at the art works and try to appreciate them the way they were intended. Not that I had understood every work that had been on display, but when I did, I often find myself gaining a little more insights.

If I could have the chance to, I shall post a few photos taken at the Singapore Art Museum for your pleasant viewing.

Overture to Penang

Hello, I decided to set up one blog to post about my upcoming tour to Penang. An island in Malaysia. I will be going there with a friend.

I foresee that this blog would develop into a blog whereby I would share ideas about places I have toured. It may be in Singapore, or overseas. Meantime, sit back and relax.
